According to the television consumer poll for 2004's 'Brassed off Britain' junk mail famously stole first place in consumer hates. The banks came second in the poll with consumers angry about their poor customer communications (especially call centres) and rip off charges. But what was third in the poll?

In the last competition Bill Colebrook of Record Performance Music Marketing correctly assessed that there have, in the entire history of the Telephone and Fax Preference Services been, as yet, no (0) case that has produced a maximum £5000 fine. Nearly everyone got it right. One reader commented "I didn't need to look this one up. Everyone knows that the proposed fines are unenforceable". So cynical. We'll see if there is a single fine levied in 2005!
